Gerard Cosmetics Review: Supreme Lip Creams

Gerard Cosmetics Supreme Lip Cream

Hey Lovelies, so recently I've been trying to test out some new brands.. well not new but new to me and you may have spotted these on my Instagram or Snapchat. I bought the Gerard Cosmetics Lip Creams in Destiny and Blooming Hibiscus from Beauty Bay a week or so ago in a bit of haul of newer beauty, hair and makeup brands. To be honest I wasn't really sure i'd like them, I've seen mixed reviews of Gerard Cosmetics from bloggers and YouTubers over the years and obviously there was the Gerard Cosmetics Scandal (google it if you've not idea what I'm talking about) which kind of put me off the brand. However, as you know if you are a regular reader, I am a sucker for pretty packaging and so finally caved. I bought 2 colours, the pink / mauve colour is Destiny and the coral is Hibiscus Bloom and as expected the packaging is instagram worthy of course. The see though plastic with gold plastic lids with the Gerard Cosmetics logo and a doe foot applicator look great in my little makeup drawers. I also like the black outer packaging as nothing annoys me more than when a brand can't be bothered to make the effort with the outer packaging.. this is very MAC Cosmetics in style. So far so good.....

In terms of the applicator, the doe foot is quite small and slim, much shorter than say the Colourpop Matte Liquid Lipsticks for example and more like the NYX Lip Creams. I actually really like the size of it as I find it much easier to do the cupids bow with these and its easier to control and get a smooth line without the need for a liner, so points for that. The fragrance is very sweet, it smells like fruity Haribo gummy bears, personally I love this but you may find it a little sickly. As for the taste, not that we will be eating it but it counts, it has a slight sweet taste but it has a typical cream lipstick after taste. Texture wise both the Destiny Supreme Lip Cream and the Blooming Hibiscus Lip Cream have a smooth consistency on the lips and apply evenly. As for colour pay off, I definitely think that Destiny is more pigmented and slightly less shiny than Blooming Hibiscus which I'm assuming is to do with the pigment. What about wear time? Well the Gerard Cosmetics Supreme Lip Creams are half way between a liquid lipstick and a gloss in my opinion, you certainly don't get the staying power of a liquid lip as they don't dry down. If they don't dry down though, you don't get the flakyness of a liquid lip either. They last pretty well, a good few hours of wear before the need reapply (unless you're eating and drinking) but they wear evenly and leave a stain on the lips that lasts a good few hours beyond that. You don't get the colour pay off you get with NYX Lip Creams as they aren't as opaque but I actually really like them. Not heavy, non-drying, doesn't slip, fades naturally and comes in a lovely range of colours although Beauty Bay only stock 6.

Overall verdict, I'm happy and will definitely be trying more products from Gerard Cosmetics. I've got my eye on a couple of colours in the Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks which seem more heavy duty (Beauty Bay stock 15 shades) and I hear really good things about the SLAY All Day Setting Sprays too. For £8 you can't go wrong with the Gerard Cosmetics Supreme Lip Creams for easy to wear, comfortable pops of colour on the lips.

Happy Blooming

Love
